Mona Lisa Touch Laser

Alpine Women’s Centre Offering Mona Lisa Touch Laser Treatments

MONTROSE, CO – The arrival of new technology in Montrose is creating access to new services for women in the region. The common thread of these new procedures? Laser technology.

Montrose Regional Health’s Alpine Women’s Centre has made multiple services available to the community, with additional services being eyed for late 2021/early 2022. The first laser procedure offered, referred to as the Mona Lisa Touch, can help women with a myriad of issues.

“Women in our communities are seeing really great benefits from our new treatments,” said Leigh-Anne Hughes, Laser Technician at the Alpine Women’s Centre. “The Mona Lisa Touch is the only vaginal laser treatment that is backed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. It is exciting we have this technology at our fingertips.”

The Mona Lisa Touch is a simple laser treatment for vaginal rejuvenation that gives relief and can offer life-changing results for women.  It is used to help women who suffer from painful intercourse, sexual dysfunction, vaginal dryness, burning or urinary incontinence.  This treatment can also improve sexual health.

As women age, estrogen levels decline, which can lead to vaginal changes and discomfort.  It is not uncommon for women to experience these changes during perimenopause, menopause and even after childbirth.  Many women have tried hormone therapy and/or estrogen creams and have not found the results to be effective.

Treatments use laser energy delivered by the Mona Lisa Touch to stimulate the patient’s vagina to form new blood vessels and increase the production of collagen and elastin. This process contributes strength and elasticity to the vaginal tissues. A typical course of treatment includes three five-minute procedures over an 18-week timeframe.

The laser technology offers many other uses as well, including Alpine Women’s Centre’s new Co2 Facials. Co2 facials are a facial rejuvenation procedure using laser to improve the skin’s appearance or treat minor facial flaws.

These facials use an ablative laser, which removes the thin outer layer of the skin (epidermis) and heats the underlying skin (dermis), which stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers. As the epidermis heals and regrows, the treated area appears smoother and tighter. Laser resurfacing can decrease the appearance of fine lines in the face. It can also treat loss of skin tone and improve your complexion if you have scars or sun damage.

Additional services utilizing the laser technology will be added towards the end of the year. For more information, visit www.MontroseHealth.com or call the Alpine Women’s Centre at (970) 249-6737.
