Telehealth Appointments Connecting High-Risk Patients to Care

MONTROSE, CO – To make it easier for patients, Montrose Regional Health has increased telehealth opportunities for those who are high-risk or who reside in an outlying area.

Telehealth is when a healthcare provider makes health-related services accessible by electronic means. Telehealth increases access for patients – requiring only an email address and either a webcam or a phone with a camera. Patients in the community are choosing telehealth services when they are considered “high-risk” for severe illness from COVID-19 – such as people 65 years and older, people with serious underlying medical conditions or people who are immunocompromised.

Telehealth appointments are available at multiple MMH clinics and service lines, including:
• Alpine Women’s Centre
• Cardiology Clinic
• San Juan Cancer Center
• Pulmonology

Federal officials at the Department of Health & Human Services relaxed restrictions in March – allowing Medicare to pay for office, hospital and other visits by telehealth. These loosening guidelines have helped healthcare entities like Montrose Regional Health offer patients care without having to leave their home or physically see a provider.

Telehealth is one way community members can take care of their important healthcare needs; MRH and its clinics are also open and available for in-person appointments. All MRH locations including clinics are following guidance to ensure people are protected from the COVID-19 virus including pre-screenings, social distancing measures, and more.
