All about the Montrose Regional Health Ambulatory Care Center

It is such an exciting time at Montrose Regional Health (MRH) as we look towards our future and lifting the Covid fog that has consumed us for the past two years.  Along with the vision and leadership of the hospital’s Board of Directors, hospital leadership, providers, NexCore Group, the City and County of Montrose and community members, we have been collectively working on planning this project for several months and are excited to see it come to fruition.  As you can imagine, we’ve received several questions about the upcoming plans, and we will work diligently to keep you informed as we start this new chapter.

The Ambulatory Care Center, located in River’s Landing by Hobby Lobby, will perform services on an outpatient basis – in other words, with no admission to the hospital.  The ACC will focus on helping patients in a way that does not require an overnight stay.  A few examples include X-rays, mammograms, colonoscopies, minor procedures, cosmetic procedures, visits with your healthcare provider, physical therapy and more.  The ACC is a viable alternative to hospital-based care and maintains the same level of quality care and patient safety while enhancing the patient experience.  The new building will be much easier to navigate through for these procedures and appointments.

The goal of the ACC is to provide more efficient, lower cost care for our patients.  Hospitals are an expensive environment to provide care and by moving some outpatient services to the new building, it will cost less to provide the services and therefore decrease the cost.  MRH serves Montrose, San Miguel, Ouray, Gunnison, Delta, Hinsdale and San Juan counties which is a growing area. Montrose County itself is expected to reach a population of 55,997 in the year 2050 according to the Montrose Economic Development Corporation. MRH has outgrown its current footprint and needs to grow into a new space to continue to provide the award-winning care our communities are accustomed to receiving.  The larger space will mean new providers and new services made available to our patients and families.

We are excited to partner with other independent providers in our community to offer care at the new site.  As was announced last week, Cedar Point Health is the first physician-owned group to participate with MRH in the new facility.  Cedar Point will occupy the entire second floor of the four-story building which will be approximately 20,000 square feet.  They plan to consolidate their three medical practices to provide more coordinated and efficient care for their patients.  This partnership is a key to the success of both Cedar Point Health and Montrose Regional Health as both groups work hard to maintain their independence while working together.  Other independent physician groups are also considering joining this exciting project and will be announced soon.

Montrose Regional Health has been providing high quality, compassionate care and with highly skilled caregivers to our communities for over 70 years.  As a not-for-profit entity, we don’t pay shareholders in another city – we reinvest any profit back into our organization and our communities.  We provided $26.5 million in community benefit in the year 2021 alone.  We are proud to sponsor high school activities, the senior safe graduation parties, HopeWest, Montrose Community Foundation, the Montrose Recreation Foundation, and so much more.  Stay tuned as we continue to share information about the Ambulatory Care Center and break ground to build a healthy future for our communities.
